Candle Safety

Do not leave a burning candle unattended
Keep well away from flammable objects and surfaces
Candle tins should be used on a level, non flammable heat resistant surface.
Keep at least 10 cm apart from other candles
Keep away from draughts
Tin container candles may be hot to touch.
Never attempt to extinguish a candle with water, use of a candle snuffer is best.
Keep pets and children well away from burning candles.
Ensure 1m of free space above a burning candle, do not put under shelves.
Take care not to lean over a burning candle and be aware of loose clothing and long hair.
Make sure the candle is properly extinguished after use.
For pillar candles, use a suitable non flammable container to catch any wax that may drip.
Do not move a lit candle, extinguish it first.

Candle Care

Trim wick to 5 - 6mm each time. This is best done just after extinguishing the candle as the wick will be softer and easier to trim without the risk of the wick breaking off at the base. Trimming the wick ensures that the candles flame is the right size and removes any carbon that may have built up on top of the wick ensuring a clean, sootless, non-flickering flame.

All of our candles are designed to produce best results if burned for 3 hours at a time.
Pillar candles may produce a deep tunnel hole if burned for less than 3 hours at a time, burning for more than three hours may result in wax melting through the side wall of the pillar wax causing wax leakage and greatly increased wick flame height and wax consumption. In general, burn the candle until the melt pool almost reaches the outside edge of the candle for best results and wax usage.

Scented candles benefit from 3 hour burn durations, this helps achieve a full melt pool and ensures a high enough wax temperature that the scent throw is sufficient. Burns shorter than this may result in some unburned wax left on the side of the tin (known as tunneling) as well as a low temperature, small diameter wax melt pool resulting in poor scent throw.
